A Multi Cultural Lifestyle In Selva Escondida

Mexico has long attracted those looking to trade in the so-called traditional way of life for a freer, barefoot lifestyle, and Puerto Morelos is no exception. You’ll find a diverse and close-knit community of people from all over the world who came here on vacation, fell in love and decided to make it their new home.

Many of our clients say that the unique demographic of our town was a big draw for them. Right alongside the easy-going Mexican people, you will also have the familiarity of meeting people just like yourself, who have decided to spend part or all of their time here. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself sharing a happy hour drink with a fellow Canadian, discussing the weather back home and how much you don’t miss the cold!

Naturally, Selva Escondida is just as multi-cultural as the town. We are proud to say we have attracted the attention of buyers from all parts of the globe! In fact, about 50% of our clients are foreigners, and you will find just about every nationality represented: Americans, Canadians, and Europeans to name a few.

We have found that the majority are purchasing a condo or home with us as a vacation home that they plan to visit several times a year. They tell us that once they discover Puerto Morelos, there’s nowhere else they want to be. Jo and Scot, a couple from Oregon, commented “we fell in love with this town and just wanted to keep coming back!” Savvy investors have also purchased with the plan to rent out their property.

We also have Mexican Nationals from parts of the country that are more landlocked, such as Mexico City. They enjoy bringing their families to our pristine beaches for the weekend.

There are residents who live in Selva Escondida year-round as well. They are retirees, digital nomads, and long-term travelers. Our safe, community-oriented feel has also drawn families who love being able to let their kids play outside, learning each other’s games and languages. They say it feels more like how they grew up, with more of an emphasis on imagination and play versus television and other technology.

The diversity of your neighbors is something you’ll truly enjoy. Conversing with people with different backgrounds than your own can be educational, informative, and eye-opening. One thing you’re bound to have in common is the desire to enjoy Selva Escondida’s peaceful environment while maintaining a high quality of living.

Be sure to check out the interviews on our  channel to hear more of what brought some of our homebuyers to the area, and why they love it. They are all kind, open-minded people who fell in love with Mexico and can’t wait to spend more time here. This doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to us because people who love beautiful beaches, sunshine, afternoon hammock naps, and tacos and tequila tend to be pretty great.

There’s also a truly altruistic spirit here, with many people working hard for causes such as animal rescue, ocean conservation, and community outreach. If you’re looking for ways to give back to the local area, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to do so. Joanne, one of our homebuyers from the Philippines, says that “the sense of community here is outstanding!”
